Adult ADHD
ADHD doesn’t disappear in adulthood. It may look less like obvious hyperactivity and more like difficulty with focus, organization, time management, procrastination, forgetfulness, impulsivity, or feeling chronically overwhelmed. A thoughtful evaluation can help determine whether ADHD—or another condition with similar symptoms—may be contributing.
ADHD in Women
ADHD in women can sometimes be overlooked, particularly when symptoms are more inattentive than hyperactive. Women may describe feeling scattered, overwhelmed, forgetful, chronically behind, or exhausted from trying to stay organized and keep up with daily demands. Evaluation considers your symptoms, history, functioning, and the whole clinical picture—not just whether you fit a stereotypical presentation of ADHD.
Could It Be ADHD?
Adult ADHD can look different from person to person. You may notice:
Difficulty focusing or staying engaged
Procrastination or difficulty getting started
Frequently losing or forgetting things
Trouble with organization and time management
Starting multiple tasks but struggling to finish them
Feeling mentally scattered or easily distracted
Impulsivity or difficulty slowing down
Restlessness or feeling like your mind is always “on”
Difficulty keeping up with work, home, school, or relationships
Feeling overwhelmed by tasks that seem easier for other people
For some adults, these difficulties have been present for years but were never recognized as ADHD.
Your ADHD Evaluation
An ADHD evaluation is more than completing a questionnaire. Your appointment includes a detailed discussion of your current symptoms, how they affect your daily functioning, and whether similar difficulties were present earlier in life.
We’ll also review relevant psychiatric and medical history, medications, sleep, substance use, and other factors that can affect attention and concentration.
Standardized ADHD screening tools may be used as part of the assessment when appropriate.
Because anxiety, depression, sleep problems, trauma, and other conditions can sometimes cause symptoms that overlap with ADHD, the goal is to understand the whole picture before determining a diagnosis and treatment plan.
Treatment Designed for You
If ADHD is diagnosed, we’ll discuss treatment options based on your symptoms, health history, preferences, and goals.
Treatment may include medication management, behavioral strategies, education about ADHD and executive functioning, and support for co-occurring mental health concerns when appropriate.
Medication is not automatically prescribed following an ADHD evaluation. When medication is clinically appropriate, we’ll discuss potential benefits, risks, alternatives, and follow-up monitoring together.
Already Diagnosed with ADHD?
If you’ve previously been diagnosed or are already taking ADHD medication and are looking for a new psychiatric provider, we can review your history, previous treatment, current symptoms, and available records to determine an appropriate plan for ongoing care.
Why this is a focus of our practice
ADHD is often misunderstood—especially in adults and women, whose symptoms may not fit the stereotypical picture of ADHD.
Many people spend years believing they are simply disorganized, unmotivated, overwhelmed, or “bad at keeping up,” without understanding why everyday tasks can feel so difficult.
At Wildflower Mind & Medicine, we have a particular interest in recognizing these less obvious presentations of ADHD. Our goal is to provide a thoughtful, individualized evaluation that looks beyond a checklist—considering your history, daily functioning, mental health, and the symptoms that may have been overlooked along the way.
You deserve to understand how your brain works—not just work harder to keep up.
Ready to take the next steps?
If difficulties with attention, organization, procrastination, impulsivity, or executive functioning are interfering with your daily life, an evaluation can help clarify what may be contributing and what treatment options could help.
